History
1979 / Jean and Carmel Laplante form a partnership with Gaétan Lévesque, establish Les Équipements Laplante & Lévesque Ltée, and acquire a place of business in Ormstown. This marks the beginning of their involvement with the sale and installation of grain storage, handling and drying equipment. Right from the start, the Laplante sons are working in the business either full-time or while pursuing their studies.
1982 / The company opens a branch office in St-Hyacinthe and due to the growth in the hog and pork industry, grain transformation is added to their initial business activities through the sale and installation of milling equipment on farms.
1986 / The Laplante sons (Pierre, Michel and Charles) become shareholders after buying back company shares from Gaétan Lévesque. Concurrently, Pierre becomes director of the St-Hyacinthe branch office.
The company confirms its expertise in the sale and installation of grain storage, handling, transformation and drying equipment, and other related activities are also emerging; mechanical workshops and soldering, sales and repair of hydraulic cylinders and hoses, crane services, etc…
1990 – 2000 / During this period, business takes a more “commercial” turn, which intensifies the company’s activities in the agricultural field, i.e. storage and handling of various bulk products for enterprises such as the Centre de grain commercial et régional as well as many projects with the Coopérative fédérée, cat litter producers, manufacturers of minerals and by-products for animal food, micro-breweries, the plastic industry, etc…
2004 / Jean et Carmel Laplante transfer their business shares to their three sons: Pierre, Michel and Charles. Previously in control of company headquarters in Ormstown with his father, Michel becomes president. Pierre continues as branch director in St-Hyacinthe and takes on the role of company vice-president. Having assumed the long-term responsibility of maintaining high quality standards and supervising various project sites, Charles becomes chief installer as well as treasurer for the company.
At the same time, Les Équipements L&L create a logo and a trademark.
2008 / Charles leaves the company to operate his own business but continues to install our equipment occasionally.
Pierre and Michel are now co-owners.
Pierre and Michel set up a sister company, M.I.L.L., with a specialty for all their agro-commercial projects. The company holds an RBQ general contractor licence.
2010 / Les Équipements Laplante et Lévesque Ltée become the exclusive distributor of Westeel products for the province of Quebec. The Ormstown Branch undergoes major expansion to meet the needs of the growing clientele.
2013 / Pierre left the company in order to pursue other opportunities.
Michel is now the sole owner of Les Équipement Laplante & Lévesque Ltée.
